What happens next?
If you’ve never submitted an insurance claim before, you might be wondering exactly how it all works. We’ll walk you through the claims process step by step, but here’s what you can expect:
During this phase of the claim the adjuster will gather all information in order to determine the amount of loss or damages covered by your insurance policy and identify any liable parties.
Once the adjuster completes their investigation and has reviewed your coverage they will let you know what is covered and inform you of any applicable deductibles you may have.
If needed, your adjuster will hire experts such as appraisers, engineers, estimators, or contractors, to evaluate your damages. The adjuster will also provide you with a list of preferred vendors to help with repairs. You’re not obligated to use these vendors—but know that they were selected based on the high quality of workmanship, their reputation, customer service and financial stability.
Once repairs have been completed and any lost or damaged items have been replaced, you’ll be contacted by your adjuster regarding settlement and payment. The amount of time it takes to receive payment will depend on the complexity and severity of your situation.
